Kay, an Associate of Econex, has over ten years’ experience working as an economist in the strategy consulting and banking industries. Her core capabilities include the analysis of economic policy and regulation, development of business strategy, modelling and forecasting and market analysis. She has strong experience in energy and infrastructure economics and consumer business strategy.
In her previous role as the leader of Deloitte Consulting’s specialist economics advisory team, Kay consulted to a wide range of public and private sector clients. Her recent experience includes managing the feasibility study of a proposed green technology special economic zone at Atlantis, conducting a socio-economic impact assessmen of importing LNG into the Western Cape, assisting a multinational oil & gas player to understand the electricity market and pricing dynamics in Southern Africa and to model end-user tariffs for electricity from the proposed Kudu power plant.
Kay has also represented both Deloitte and Rand Merchant Bank on various national business and news television channels (including CNBC Africa, eNews, SABC and Summit), providing economic commentary and insight. Kay holds an MCom in economics (cum laude) from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and BSc from the University of Cape Town.
