Albertus obtained his BComm (Honours) in Financial Economics as well as his MComm (Economics) cum laude from the University of Stellenbosch. Following the completion of his degree, Albertus started working as an economist at Econex in 2014.
During his graduate studies, Albertus focused predominantly on financial economics. His master thesis considered volatility, persistence and co-movement properties of output business cycles in a South African context, using various econometric techniques.
Since joining Econex, Albertus has worked on various projects in the construction, energy and fertilizer industries, including merger analyses, investigations into anti-competitive conduct as well as general sector studies. He is skilled in econometric modelling and other quantitative techniques, which he has applied in estimating the potential financial damages resulting from collusion in the construction industry.
